Lifelines Groups
Learn about Lifelines Groups and their role.
There are Lifelines Groups in most New Zealand regions. Most have informal relationships with regional Civil Defence Emergency Management (CDEM) Groups. Some are defined in CDEM Group Plans.
Membership of Lifelines Groups is voluntary. They are usually funded by the organisations involved.
Lifelines Groups identify and reduce vulnerabilities at a regional level. The New Zealand Lifelines Council provides a link between Lifelines Groups and Government.
Lifeline utilities support Lifelines Groups by sharing information about:
- risk management processes, and
- readiness and response arrangements.
Lifelines Groups don’t only work on natural hazard risk. They consider all infrastructure outage risks.
